Family Essentials is a specially customised plan developed exclusively for new Geneco customers.

This exclusive plan provides you with essential coverage of up to $30,000 for damaged home contents and renovations. It also comes with HomeCare Services worth up to $300, providing you with 24/7 access to emergency electrical, aircon repair, plumbing, locksmith and pest control services. For added assurance, AIG’s Bill Relief Protector will help cover and pay for your bills in an insured event, even your Geneco bill!

How does AIG Family Essentials add to your protection, beyond your HDB fire or MCST insurance?

Fire insurance from HDB or your MCST may only cover fire damage to the building structure, and fixtures and fittings in your unit. Family Essentials covers your contents and renovations, not only in the case of fires but also burst water pipes and other insured perils listed in the policy wording.

With Building Coverage of up to $20,000, it can supplement the costs of restoring damaged internal structures, as well as fixtures and fittings (provided by HDB or your condominium developer) should it exceed what your HDB or MCST fire insurance likely covers. Building coverage is applicable only for residential apartment units in a HDB housing estate (including executive condominiums), condominium units or private apartment units.

When everyday emergencies occur, whether it’s your air conditioning, plumbing, electricals or more, we’re here for you anytime 24/7 with HomeCare Services. You’ll be covered for up to $150 each time, for a total of two times during the coverage period for the following services:

You can apply to be covered under Family Essentials insurance when you sign up for a new electricity plan with Geneco.

No. Family Essentials is only available exclusively for customers who sign up for a new Geneco Electricity plan.

The premium for your coverage will be included in your first Geneco bill.

Your insurance coverage will commence in accordance with the following enrolment schedule once Geneco receives the full payment for the coverage.

Family Essentials has a 12-month period of coverage from the effective date of the coverage. 

Yes, you can cancel the coverage anytime by notifying us in writing, however no refunds will be issued for any premium paid.

Yes, Family Essentials will continue to cover your insured location within the period of coverage even if your Geneco contract is terminated, subject to the condition that there’s no change to your insured address. 

No. Your insured location is determined by the registered address provided to Geneco at the time of purchasing an electricity plan and cannot be changed.

No, the coverage only covers residential locations.

For 24-month contract: You will be billed in the 11th month of your 24-month Geneco contract for your renewal premiums. If you wish to continue your coverage for further 12-month, please pay your Geneco bill as usual. 

For 12-month contract: We are not able to offer renewal for 12-month Geneco contract holders. You may wish to consider our other personal property offerings including Homes Essential here.

You can arrange for the services by calling AIG’s dedicated hotline number for HomeCare Services at 6419 3008. Please note that you will be asked to verify your identity and residential address before you are able to activate the service.

Yes, it is available 24/7, including weekends and public holidays. Please note that there is a one month waiting period from the effective date of your coverage before you can utilise the emergency electrical assistance, pest control, plumber, and air conditioner repair services.

We cover up to S$150 for the emergency service per event. In the event the cost of the service exceeds the limit of cover, any amount in excess of S$150 will need to be paid be payable by you directly to the repairer.

By signing up for Family Essentials, you agree to provide consent to (a) AIG, (b) AIG's group companies, service providers, reinsurers, agents, distributors, business partners, (c) brokers, Your authorized agents or representative, legal process participants and their advisors, other financial institutions, (d) governmental / regulatory authorities, industry associations, courts, other alternative dispute resolution forums, to (1) Processing, underwriting, administering and managing Your relationship with Us; (2)  Audit, compliance, investigation and inspection purposes and handling regulatory governmental enquiries; (3) Compliance with legal or regulatory obligations, risk management procedures and Our internal policies; (4) Managing Our infrastructure and business operations; and (5) Carrying out market research and analysis and satisfaction surveys. Family Essentials is available only when signing up for a new Seraya Energy Pte. Ltd. (“Geneco”) electricity plan. 

Family Essentials is arranged by Geneco for their members under a group policy issued and underwritten by AIG Asia Pacific Insurance Pte. Ltd. (AIG). Geneco does not hold itself out to be an insurer, insurance broker or insurance agent. The premium charged by AIG Asia Pacific Insurance Pte. Ltd. per insured for 12 months of cover is $45 (inclusive of GST). The insurance coverage is subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the group policy where Geneco is the policyholder.
