1. I am an AIG AutoPlus private car customer and have 30% No Claim Discount (“NCD”) on my policy. The excess applicable to my policy is S$1,500. I had an accident involving another vehicle recently. AIG assessed that I was not at fault due to the submission of my in-car camera video recording, which I handed to AIG on the next working day after the accident. My car is being repaired at AIG’s authorised workshop. How much excess waiver do I enjoy?

Since your car is being repaired at our authorised workshop and your NCD is below 50%, you will be eligible for a 50% excess waiver up of to S$1,000 (provided this is the first accident during the period of insurance). On top of this, given that you have fulfilled the terms for in-car excess waiver, you will be able to enjoy another S$500 excess waiver. This means that your total applicable excess waiver or out-of-pocket cost is reduced by S$1,500. Overall, you will not need to pay any excess.
At times, liability assessment can take longer due to investigations. If the liability assessment is not finalised when your car is ready for collection from the repairer, you will have to pay the excess first and AIG will reimburse you once the liability assessment has been concluded.

2. I am an AIG Auto Protector private car customer and have 50% NCD on my policy. The excess applicable to my policy is S$1,500. I had an accident recently involving another vehicle and I submitted the video recording from my in-car camera to AIG 2 days after the accident. It was established that I was at fault. My car is being repaired at my dealer’s workshop. How much excess waiver do I enjoy?

As you are established to be at fault for the accident, you will be eligible for a 50% excess waiver, i.e., your out-of-pocket expense will be reduced by S$750 for your accident repair at the dealer’s workshop.  Your video recording that was submitted would also help AIG to assess and settle any third party claims fairly.
At times, liability assessment can take longer due to investigations. If the liability assessment is not finalised when your car is ready for collection, you will have to pay the excess first and AIG will reimburse you once the liability assessment has been concluded.

3. I am an AIG AutoPlus private car customer and have 50% NCD. The excess applicable to my policy is S$1,000. I had an accident recently but no other vehicle was involved. My car is being repaired at AIG’s authorised workshop. Do I enjoy excess waiver for submitting the in-car camera video recording of the accident?

In-car camera excess waiver is only applicable when you are involved in an accident with a third party vehicle. Although the in-car camera excess waiver does not apply to you, if this was your first accident during the period of insurance and you were the driver at the time of accident, you are still eligible for an excess waiver of up to S$1,000 under our excess waiver for safe drivers offered to our AutoPlus customers.

4. What if my in-car camera is damaged in an accident – does AIG cover my in-car camera?

AIG offers cover for your in-car camera provided you declare it under fixtures and fittings with a specified sum insured when you purchase your car insurance policy. In the event that your in-car camera is damaged in an accident, we will either replace it or repair it up to the sum insured.

In addition, the Policy Lifetime Repair Guarantee also does not apply to:

  • Accident damage repairs that you claim against third parties, irrespective of the workshop where the repairs are carried out at.
  • Defects caused by normal wear and tear, improper maintenance or any area that is not damaged in relation to a car accident and is not covered by your car insurance policy with AIG.
  • Any liability to third parties for damage to their property, including, but not limited to, their automobiles.
